The CommuniSki Story
Hi, I’m Charlie.
(That’s me right there, blitzing through powder in the yellow jacket.)
I started developing CommuniSki in 2017 because I’m passionate about skiing. I talked a buddy into a ‘research’ road trip that was really an excuse to ski. We headed out on a two month road trip to California where we skied every day but one (and the only reason we didn’t that day was because we were driving 14 hours in a snowstorm! The scariest day of my life, because you couldn’t see anything for most of that time.)
I’m a big fan of singles lines at ski hills. You can move through lines faster and more importantly you get to talk to a lot of people.
Those conversations, standing in lines during that trip, were where the idea for CommuniSki began to form.
We found that people wanted the same thing as us: an app that did everything for them. They didn’t like having an app for every resort they went to, a different app for weather and one for meeting up with friends. They wanted an app that served the ski industry.
That’s what we’re building with CommuniSki. We’re taking all other existing platforms, getting the best bits out of them, adding a huge dollop of snow and focusing them for winter sports. My experience in accounting and the corporate world has left me well positioned to find that middle ground between end user needs, resort needs and business needs, able to address everyone’s problems and challenges. One of my skills is taking something from one place and and applying it a completely different scenario.
So, what’s next for CommuniSki?
My wife, Tamsin, and I are doing up our camper. We’ll be taking a series of mini road trips this winter; we’re going to Washington and Seattle, then off to Canada and down to Montana and Idaho, visiting as many resorts as we can to promote the app and keep making it the best it can be.
Oh, and Jeeves the dog is coming along too!

Charlie Walker (Founder, Project Lead)
Charlie learned to ski at age 3 and hasn’t looked back since. CommuniSki combines his passion with corporate experience and business background. When he’s not working on the app, you can find him skiing or hanging out with his wife and dog.
Rob Green (Director of Business Development)
Rob has over 25 years experience in business development and sales. He loves being up in the mountains almost as much as he does sliding down them. Pictured here: Rob doing what he does best on the hill.
Mariann Haug (Web Developer)
Mariann has two years experience in software development, moving from Denmark to Canada to study. When she’s not hard at work coding the CommuniSki app, she is usually skiing or climbing.
Jeeves (A Good Boy)
Jeeves loves the snow as much as the rest of us! When he’s not fetching Charlie’s cider from the fridge, he loves going on walks.
